Celebrating at Canada Life Place

Beginning June 2025, Western University’s convocation ceremonies are being hosted at Canada Life Place, marking a significant shift from their long‑time home at Alumni Hall.

This multi‑year move is part of a broader effort to address longstanding challenges related to accessibility, space limitations, and event logistics, ensuring a better and more inclusive experience for graduates and their guests.

Canada Life Place Policies

It's important to be respectful of all graduates and follow the rules and guidelines provided by Canada Life Place.

Only guests are permitted to being bags inside the venue; bags will be subject to a security search upon entry. However, oversized bags, including backpacks or any items that cannot fit comfortably under a seat, will not be allowed. Please note that we do not offer bag check services.

Visit Canada Life Place's website for FAQs and details about their bag policy.

The following items are not allowed in Canada Life Place:

  • Aerosol cans
  • Backpacks
  • Balloons
  • Professional cameras or video and audio recording devices
  • Selfie sticks
  • Drones
  • Go-pro devices

For a list of more items, visit the Canada Life Place website.

Convocation is all about celebrating the hard work and achievements of our graduates. To help everyone enjoy the ceremony, we ask that guests please avoid bringing banners, signs, posters, or flags. These items can block the view of others and take away from the special moment for students and their families!

Many guests travel a long way to be here, and we want to make sure everyone can fully share in the experience. Thank you for helping us keep the focus on celebrating our graduates!

Convocation's new home

Convocation at Canada Life Place brings Western’s signature celebration into the centre of London’s vibrant downtown. Graduates and their families can expect a lively, welcoming atmosphere, with the university transforming the surrounding Dundas Place corridor into a festive, purple‑themed community space.
