Showing Support for your Graduate

On the day of, you might want to celebrate your graduate's achievements with flowers or other gifts. Read more below before bringing gifts to the ceremony.

Flowers

Guests are welcome to purchase flowers for their graduate and pick them up at Dundas Place outside Canada Life Place on their student’s convocation day.

If you choose to bring flowers, please keep them with you at all times. Flower deliveries to the venue will NOT be accepted, and the University is not responsible for lost or stolen bouquets

Framing and Gifts

Mark this milestone with a meaningful keepsake! From degree frames to grad bear stuffies, Western crest keychains, Mustang coaster sets, and class pins, the Dellelce Family Bookstore has it all. Shop now. 

During June 2–15, enjoy $20 off all frames, both in-store and online. If you order online, you can conveniently pick up your frame in store, located in the lower level of the University Community Centre (UCC).  

During convocation week, the bookstore will open with extended hours from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. A bookstore pop-up will also be available inside Canada Life Place, and a trailer outside, stocked with select degree frames and gifts.

Arrival

Doors of Canada Life Place will open for Guests at 9:00 a.m. for a morning ceremony and 2:00 p.m. for an afternoon ceremony.

Guests should enter Canada Life Place through Gates 1 and 5 and will need to present a ticket for entry. Information on how graduates can order guest tickets can be found on the Tickets page.

Convocation Ceremony Etiquette

It's important to be respectful of all graduates and follow the rules and guidelines provided by the venue.

Bag Policy

Bags are permitted inside the venue and will be subject to a security search upon entry. However, oversized bags, including backpacks or any items that cannot fit comfortably under a seat, will not be allowed. Please note that we do not offer bag check services.

Prohibited Items

The following items are not allowed in Canada Life Place:

  • Aerosol cans
  • Backpacks
  • Outside food and beverage
  • Professional cameras or video and audio recording devices
  • Selfie sticks
  • Drones
  • Go-pro devices

Banners and Signs

Convocation honours the hard work and accomplishments of each graduate. To that end, banners, signs, posters, and flags are not permitted. They may obstruct the view of others and take away from the celebration of these students’ achievements. We are mindful of the distances many of their families have travelled for this momentous occasion in their lives and we ask everyone honour that.
